Welney Wetland Centre

A National Trust site, and one of the most important wetlands in Europe. It is also home to the National Dragonfly Centre. Herons, cormorants, many ducks and geese, dragonflies, butterflies and wild flowers. It has a Visitor Centre and Cafe. 850 acre wildfowl reserve including nature trail. There is a pond room with art and craft activities, a main observatory to watch the birds and dragonfly ponds. If you have binoculars, bring them along! It helps to see the wildlife if you are quiet and approach the hides slowly.

Getting there: – Ely and then bus (9 miles from train). Car – 17 miles north-east of Cambridge via A10.
