It's great to get out

Cambridge has so many open green spaces making it a great place to get out and about with kids. There are lots of kids holiday clubs and sports activities outside. There are splash pads around the city, Jesus Green Lido, Cherry Hinton and Lammas Land paddling pools too.

Because of covid precautions many events that might have been held inside are now taking place outside. So it’s a great time to embrace fresh air and fun for all the family. See below for some ideas. If you have any suggestions, do get in touch.

Cambridge has many green spaces and parks to explore. You could play football on Parker’s Piece, have an ice cream on Jesus Green.

walks around the city

There are quite a few off road paths in the city. Follow the river from Jesus Green right out to Stourbridge Common. You could walk or cycle with the family, stopping off on the way. There will be links to family friendly walks when these are updated. Until then, have a look at the Cambridge Evening News List on this link from last year, it has most of the nice local walks.

for all seasons

There are many outdoor events, especially in the summer on Parker’s Piece and fairs on Midsummer Common. Local festivals such as Cherry Hinton are fun days out. Or you could see the historical rowing boat ‘bumps’ earlier in the year, or dragon boat races too. Some may not happen this year due to Covid restrictions, however most are outdoors and are going ahead.

This is a modern day treasure hunt, using a GPS device to find hidden containers or ‘caches’. It is a nice, simple idea set up by volunteers worldwide.
