This is a great museum, and one to the favourites. See the Finback Whale skeleton which now hangs above the entrance. There is plenty to amuse the kids on a rainy day. It has close links with Darwin’s work from the HMS Beagle bound for South America. Here are skeletons of a Killer Whale, Elephant and even a Giraffe. Find the collection of Darwin’s beetles, and a giant crab. There is a young zoologists club for 6-13 year olds – it is free and members receive a welcome pack, a newsletter and priority booking for special events.
It has recently been refurbished with an impressive two storey high main hall, where you can look down or up at the skeletons. A real must see.
