Travel in Cambridge on foot, bike or bus

WALK – You can walk around the city centre with ease as it is very compact. BIKE – Cycling is very popular. You can hire bikes at the train station from Rutland bike hire which does kids bikes and helmets.

BUS – Cambridge is very well served with public transport. A Bus Dayrider ticket (£4.50 for an adult; £7.80 for one adult, two children) provides 24 hours, unlimited, citywide bus travel. You can buy the ticket on the bus. www.transportdirect.info

The busway has frequent buses between Huntingdon, St Ives and Cambridge, routes A, B & C. Also to Trumpington and Addenbrooks Hospital. www.thebusway.info

Travel Around Cambridge

TRAIN – The train station is a little out of town (20 minutes walk). Cambridge serves the city, you can get a bus into the centre. It has cafes, shops, bike and car parking. Cambridge North station serves the Science Park and North city. www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/CBG/details.aspx

CAR – Cambridge, Peterborough and surrounding area are easily accessible from the M11, M1/A1 and A14 motorways.

Parking: There are five centrally located multi-storey and three surface car parks in Cambridge. You can also use the Bus Park and Ride schemes for free parking.

Travel in Cambridge by car or taxi

Cambridge has excellent park and ride schemes. It has a 7 day a week service across five sites and parking is free. They are colour coded; GREEN (Milton to Babraham Rd); RED (Madingley Rd to Newmarket Rd); BLUE(Trumpington).
